Anurag Kashyap - the man - read what RC - the guy who plays the protagonist in Anurag’s forthcoming ’Gulaal’ has to say abt Anurag !!

Over the days since ‘No Smoking’ released I’ve heard and read a lot of things against Anurag Kashyap. Not Anurag Kashyap the director but Anurag Kashyap the man. Having just gone through the comments to “I Smoked Classic Milds”, I feel the need to write this post because I am unable to hold back.
Why I am I unable to hold back…because I’m angry…angry with the fact that he’s being attacked viciously…He’s being attacked personally because he’s dared to make a film no one in this industry would dare to attempt…That is why I want to defend him…I don’t want to defend ‘No Smoking’…everyone is entitled to their opinions..
Why do I want to defend him…because I love the man…I love and respect the man he is…
I respect him because I’ve seen him come to the rescue of an unknown man being thrashed by three other men(especially in a city where people just stare and watch someone being molested, raped, thrown off trains…) and getting himself hurt quite badly in the bargain..
I respect him because I’ve seen tears in his eyes when he sees an actor who’s done a small scene in “Black-Friday” working as a waiter and promptly offers him a role in his next film…
I respect him because I’ve seen him pay for the treatment of an actor who had a paralytic attack, when he himself was going through a rough phase..
I respect him because he treats everyone with equal respect on a film-set especially in an industry where the hierarchy system is exploited to the hilt…
In this industry the person against whom the worst treatment is meted out is an actor looking for work…Anurag Kashyap is one person I know who treats them with dignity and respect…
These are just some of the incidents I’ve mentioned..
I respect him because he has guts…guts to stand by his convictions…
I respect him for the fact he’s dared to lead the way for the cinema he believes in..
Yes, he calls a spade a spade…but why is that so difficult for people to digest…I’ve seen him being subject to ridicule in the past…being called a ‘jinxed’ director… not getting paid for the hard-work he’d put in…why did no-one from the industry stand up for him when his films suffered, when I’ve seen him openly come out in support of other directors fully aware that it could go against him…Why am I writing this? Because this is the only public forum I have where I can defend someone I know who’s being treated unfairly…
Why am I writing about Anurag Kashyap? Because he has been a true friend and stood by me in my worst times…because he has given me the reason to respect myself and believe in myself…And I’m sure he’s done that for a lot of people…and I’ll damn well defend him…
